The American conservatives I know seem intelligent and many of them are bilingual or trilingual. If there are American conservatives on this forum, I want to know what languages you can speak.
I have met one liberal who is bilingual. Most I know are monolingual.

I had two years of Spanish and one of German in high school, 6 credits of Spanish and 3 of German in college, also two years of Latin; can communicate well with Spanish-speakers on a warehouse floor or in a cosmopolitan neighborhood, but I don't consider that as fluent in la idioma.
If I had the opportunity to learn yet another language, I'd opt for Russian, Cantonese, or maybe Tagalog (due to a small, but enduring circle of Filipino friends).

I know many liberals who are bi- or multi-lingual. Not sure that language ability is closely related to intelligence. Its more related to (linguistic) environment, I would think.
