The BLM anti-police/anti-white movement is international, and part of the message of the NFL anthem protestors is race before country. Kudos to Subban for rejecting that.
Black Canadians have a different narrative from Black Americans, hence the mentality is different.
That is one factor that is being overlooked. He's a Canadian of Caribbean background.
Well aware. If you don't follow hockey, you should! Great player and he fits in well with the Preds - who easily have the best fans in the entire league. If I wasn't already a committed Caps fan (I must just like to punish myself), the Preds would be my team.

Fantastic D-man for the Nashville Predators. Fun games to watch as their fans really get into the game.
I love hockey. Great sport, great fans, great athletes. Not for the feint of heart (we do appreciate a legit throw down) but it also has incredible moments like in the playoffs last year when, at a Canadian arena, the singer's microphone broke during the American anthem, the entire arena filled with Canadians (Edmonton Oiler fans) sang the anthem instead.
Not sure what difference it makes that he is Canadian when he is playing on an American team in American cities where they play the American national anthem. He is being respectful of the flag and anthem of the country that has given him opportunity.
