Sometimes. Women with hairy upper lips and unshaven armpits and legs are almost always liberal. As to men, I know a bunch of hipsters who don't wear deodorant. Unsurprisingly, all liberal.

Hygiene is another issue.

While I look like I rolled out of a dumpster I'm a neat/hygiene freak.

Always refreshing myself and my apartment.

Perhaps it is just my circle, but I suggest you all write down 20 people who you know of their political identity(obviously pick people who are somewhat politically active, ie vote at least for President).

Split into 2 groups, conservative and liberal, yes I know there are more groups but lets keep it simple
Next to each name write down distinctive and selective appearance choices, ie if females does she shave, if male does he wear makeup, on weekends do they tend to dress up or down compared to others, etc
I had some statistically signifcant findings

There are a lot of Goober's in these parts, and I can guess with 90% accuracy they all voted Trump.

My childhood best friend is a conservative that dresses like a liberal, artistic with a dash of hippie. I'm a liberal that dresses like an absolute conservative, oxford shirts, etc. We've laughed about this before. The answer is no.

No, everybody in real life (not on CD) thought I was a liberal. (the artist, art student type is what they say. Some thought I was a dancer or a performing art student.)

I'm not sure about my personal appearance, but people assume I'm conservative based on my home and its decor. I'm not sure why.

Not really. It's hard to tell moderates. Its also hard to tell rich conservative women and rich, limousine liberal women. But other liberals usually have a very distinct look to them. The liberal men often look a certain way and liberal women have their own look. I don't want to get modded so I'll leave the liberals at that, but they do stick out like a sore thumb to me.

Conservatives men tend to have certain types of facial hair and tend to wear more functional clothes. Conservative women often have more traditional hairstyles. Conservatives tend to wear a lot more patriotic clothing as well as outdoor brands like Carhartt or Browning.

Again, moderates are tough and this obviously isn't 100%. But it's interesting how often people look the role.

If people looked at me, they might think I'm pretty conservative. I wear a baseball cap pretty much everyday (even to work, in a white collar environment), I drive a SUV (although, I only drive it a few times a month), and I am most at peace in the backwoods.

And I'm a pretty left-leaning Independent.

I've learned not to judge a book by its cover. Mostly because I would not want to judged the same way in reverse.
