In a bit of good news that all sides should be united on - Rep Steve Scalise will today shortly be arriving on the US House floor and speaking. It will be his first appearance since being targeted for assassination while practicing for an upcoming congressional baseball game. Scalise has had to undergo a long recovery process with many ups and downs. It most certainly has been a difficult ordeal for both him and his family. May they now be able to put this tragic event behind them and move on with their lives. Welcome back Representative.

While many Americans may have disagreements with legislators in DC, none of them should have to go through what Reps Scalise and Giffords have had to endure.

Amazing guy and what he went through for the last 3.5 months and probably will have to deal with for the rest of his life due to a crazy liberal, will still be a challenge each day!

Sad that you had the need to sully this thread so soon.

He will be on 60 Minutes this weekend on what happened during the attempted mass murder of government officials by a Democrat, who was influenced by the hysteria of liberal main stream media cable outlets.

Since the thread is already sullied...

My intent with this thread was not for it to become some sort of partisan cesspool. Unfortunately some people could not show self retraint and common decency. It is exactly this type of behavior that has created the present hyper partisan environment where lunatics feel empowered to take things to an worse level.

I'm glad Scalise is back and well.

It doesn't negate the truth of how it happened.

Do you know how many threads would exist if the political tables were turned?

This area of C-D can be a cesspool. I expect it. The current events area may have been the place for you to post this.

This forum is called POLITICS AND OTHER CONTROVERSIES. My post was about a politician returning to the US House of Representatives after a deranged person tried to assassinate him because of his political views. It would seem to me it falls under POLITICS and is appropriate for this forum.

Sorry I was expecting too much common decency from people to keep partisanship out of this feel good story thread. I should have had less faith in people and expected the worse in people would come forth.
