I should in principle support the repeal of this tax, as a moderate I voted to keep this tax, since it doesn't affect me and estates with that much money can afford to have some of it taken.

I guess I'm narcissistic that way. I do want the rich to pay more.

I already explained that currently, working inmates are paid 10-20 cents per hour. One month of that won't even cover one days food budget, so you would have to support paying them the federal minimum wage or higher.

And what about inmates who can't work, either due to mental deficiency or physical handicap?

Kind of like why should a parent house, feed, and clothe their own kids, huh? After all, the kids didn't earn one cent of it.

The difference is college students aren't imprisoned against their will. They are still free

When a child is below working age, they ARE a parents responsibility. After that it's a grey area

Why pay them anything at all? Require them to work to earn their keep.

I'm not buying it. My step-sister is both developmentally disabled and physically handicapped. She has a part-time job that offsets some of the expenses of her group home.

Prisoners were free to choose to violate the law. That's the choice they made.

The response I would give to this post would violate TOS, so I'll leave it at that....

That's what you truly believe? Then why are taxpayers paying so much to house, feed, and clothe so many of them? You're claiming that's the parents' responsibility. Time to end Food Stamps, WIC, CHIP, Medicaid, Welfare, TANF, Housing Assistance, etc., and any other public assistance benefits for kids. According to you, they're their parents' responsibility.

Did they violate the law by acting on their own free will? Or not?
