We are the country with the greatest freedoms and opportunities in the world. A country that is still so great that people from the vast majority of the world want to immigrate to, and that 10s of millions are willing to break our laws in order to do so (granted-these are not immigrants!).

So, when did be become such an entitled nation? One where so many feel that they should be have all their needs and desires satisfied with no effort on their part? One where people demanding that others give them free stuff?

When did it become trendy to always play the victim? I suspect all of us have met individuals that were like that-how nothing was ever their fault, someone was always "mistreating" them and they were always "down on their luck". For most of my life-these people were known as losers, and were avoided by decent, hard working people. (Well...unless they were family and hard to avoid).

These days it seems as if victimhood has become virtually a profession, and not just for a handful of people. From those throwing temper tantrums over losing an election and putting on their little p*ssy hats, to those rioting and burning their own neighborhoods over a violent criminal. College students at our most expensive universities needing safe spaces and Pla-Doh to cope with an election. The rise of racist hate groups claiming victim status because they are expected to obey the same laws as the rest of society. To absolute nut-case celebrities that make their living playing dress-up and absolutely losing it on TV (see The View, Lena Dunham, the Nasty Woman (what is that moron's name?), Jenny Lawrence, etc. Now we have sports entertainers paid millions to work 1 hour a week playing a kids game getting in on the victimhood game.

When did we become a nation where it was trendy to hid your face and use violence against those with a differing political opinion?

When did this happen? When did we go from a nation of entrepreneurs that started businesses in their basements and garages, from workers that built our skyscrapers and steel and auto industries, from a nation that destroyed Nazism, Fascism and Japanese imperialism, to a nation filled with entitled children? One where being a victim is something that is celebrated and held out as a claim to, well, everything. When did we go from a rugged individualism to a nation of snowflakes?

Remember when those whiners wasted perfectly good tea back in 1773?

When did being a Victim, Temper Tantrums and Violence become trendy and hip?

That is a very good question and I wish I had an answer.

It is probably because we abandoned any semblance of Personal Responsibility.

Why we did that is a mystery to me. It will be our downfall, which I fear has already begun.

It was during the Industrial Revolution when people were protesting 14 hour days/seven days a week at jobs with no benefits in unsafe factories. They were such snowflakes... Next time you are enjoying a day off thank someone who had a "temper tantrum" back in the good old days.

I agree..way too much 'victim stance' going on these days...It seems especially prevalent among Conservative, White men under 40. the belief that somehow everyone is out to get them..blames them for everything...discriminates against them in the job market and the school yard. "Waaaa..affirmative action..waaa--that's why I'm a failure..waaaa." "The minorities get everything handed to them..I get nothing."

The myth of White male victimhood is a big thing these days. Sure seems silly to me.

How about cowboying up...and stop blaming everyone else for your failures?

BTW..I direct that at all races and genders. Making yourself a victim....is like tying an arm behind our back..it weakens you..and when you decide to use the arm..oh well.

Everybody has hurdles to overcome..whining about the other guy...means you are likely to come in last..in the great race of Darwin.

that may be, but it reached an elevated level in the 90 with the clintons claiming victim hood, remember the vast right wing conspiracy? it then jumped another level when bush was elected, poor al gore got screwed out of being president by that evil genius, but very stupid, george bush, and when obama got into office, every liberal got in on the act.

Now you have a president who blames everybody for his own mistakes, who's exhibitions of self pity because he's always being picked on, so he claims, by the evil media, are truly pathetic and cringe making. Remember the speech to the scouts?
