do you understand that north korea does not have the capability to all that much harm to america? or even japan? north korea might be able to assimilate south korea, one on one, but with the US standing by SKs side, they really dont stand a chance. oh yes they can probably do some serious damage, but nothing irreparable. on the other hand the US can turn north korea into a parking lot if we so choose.
as for north korea being victims, sorry but they started the war in 1950, so they are not the victims, they are the aggressors. south korea was the victim of north koreas agression.
As it stands right now the biggest loser/victim in this whole deal is south Korea.
and i dont disagree with you casper. truman did the right thing firing macarthur.
Cool. I leave it to you and others here to deal with this thread, I am not quite ready to get banned again, and staying here would ensure that happening really soon.
Its complex. Suffice to say most Americans are ignorant sheep and some just like to see the world burn so long as they don't have to pick up a gun and put their butts in a trench.
America glorafies the culture of war. As a people we're backward in ways.
Hold up there young person; you must be young because those of us who were around then can still recall the events leading up to the eventual fracas.
This article gives a fairly accurate timeline of events presaging the actual shooting war and what you've failed to understand is the U.S. among others was caught with it's pants down around it's ankles while believing a deal made with Stalin was the only deal that would matter. They were all wrong.
Syngman Rhee was your typical nationalistic nutbar that should never have been left in charge of S.Korea but there you go; mistakes never learned from are mistakes doomed to be repeated. Backing the wrong nutbar has gotten to be a habit with the U.S., but that's a completely different kettle of fish.
South Korea was invaded by the Northern nutbar ~ Kim Il Sung, being supported by Communist China. it was fully a week after that invasion before any response took place at all. When that response included bombing it should have come as no surprise to the N.Koreans, as by that time they were firmly entrenched into S.Korea and advancing south so why would they not expect their supply lines and populace to be bombed. Hadn't their stupid leaders been paying attention throughout the 5 years of WWII?
When you invade another country without provocation over nothing more than ideological beliefs, you pretty much put your own people into the mixing bowl and should expect the recipe not coming out as you've planned. Tactics of modern war weren't written by the Marquis De Queensbury and bombing of civilians had become de-rigeur at least 6 years prior.
Don't know where you're originally from or where you are presently, but your form of re-writing historical events leaving out major parts is just what we've all come to expect from those wishing to paint the sky anything but blue.
I know the history of the Koreas well enough. I know damn well who who attacked first. I know the aspects of this from the nuclear proliferation standpoint. I also know that there has never been a peace treaty signed and little progress has been made because of western recalcitrance. Every time something happens to move the countries towards peace some "special interest" seems to get in the way.
Peace is not one of the interests for those "special interests".
And all of you yokels that think a conflict is an option are clueless. What about the citizens of N Korea? Do they have a choice in this? Of course not. Not in either direction. So you think the solution is to just nuke the whole country and be done with it? Bomb them again? The people in the north are just as innocent as those it the south. Are y'all so dimwitted you can't see past the crack in front of you? Murdering millions is not a solution especially when you have a bad reputation already in a world becoming less ignorant everyday at a very quick pace. Both China and Russia have called for a peaceful solution to this mess. The US needs to catch to hell up. It's called consequences. China will not stand idly by as we kill millions of people. It will get really ugly.
I'm all for throwing Kim and his cohorts up against a wall. I have a condition though. I want all the m-f-ers that have devoted their lives to perpetuating this on the same wall. That includes the animals we have here.
There you go again with some distorted view of reality.
You talk about the innocent northerners while ignoring the fact a major portion of them are in the military as a form of guaranteeing their families existence beyond starving to death BUT at some point in time those "innocents" will be forced to make a choice just as any number of countries have been faced with in the past, the U.S. being one that comes to mind.
They must either weigh the consequences of maintaining fealty to a whack-job of a family heritage that includes the fact that family has presided over murdering more N.Koreans than all the bombing or military actions committed by the U.N.; or suffer the consequences. Their innocence stops where Kim's threats to annihilate another country begin.
Funny how you are so focused on what happened to the North during the War, yet ignore what the North did in the South when they took over most all of it. Me thinks someone has an agenda.
No kidding! That's coming through loud and clear. It also ignores the fact there were a few more countries than just the U.S. involved in the air and on the ground.
Someone needs to take out Kim Jong-un like he did his uncle and half brother. We can start there so innocent lives are saved.
