Gun laws are absolutely appropriate in showing respect for the victims but I don't think anyone is discussing gun laws beyond how the lack of them helped the shooter in this particular case. Apparently he bought at least 50 of them and gained no attention. That's a lot of guns to buy. As many as he had in the hotel room, he had around the same amount at his house in Mesquite. They haven't said about his other home(s) yet.

I heard an interesting theory about this shooter. He inherited psycho traits from his father. He's lived in 27 different places yet no one has come forward to say they knew him, at least that I've heard. He has probably committed a lot of crimes, even murders, over the years because no one suddenly does this. Where did he get masses of money to gamble? Bank robbery? Fraud? Swindling rich women?

What would be appropriate to say on this thread?

From what I've read, he got the money legitimately but it's true that he could have committed many other crimes previous to this and not get caught. It will be interesting if we learn more from his roommate if/when she returns to the U.S.

One would think a guy buying 50 guns would get flagged somehow somewhere.
No it doesn't depend. If you think that one individual should be held legally responsible for the future actions of another unrelated individual, then you subscribe to truly unscrupulous, unethical reasoning.

I can give you example after example of liberals' deceitfulness with regards to all sorts of things.

7 of the wealthiest 10 members of congress are liberals, for just one example. I could go on and on.
what a joke! why don't you do an analysis of 45's Cabinet? just for laughs, of course!

since you are equating wealth with deceit that doesn't look good for 45.

The Columbine shooters bought from a private seller and that seller went to jail afterwards.

Again, that is a reasonable discussion to have considering the number of people murdered and injured in this and other mass shootings. I'm guessing there will be some creative lawyers looking into this now and in the future.

Number of guns purchased has no relation to mass shootings, though. If you look back through the history of these shootings, there's not a correlation between number of guns owned and deadliness of the attack. Sandy Hook, Navy Yard, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Columbine - none of those guys had what you might call an "arsenal".

The sad reality is that there is no way, none, to predict who, when and where this is going to happen.
