Actually, some conspiracy theorists made the connection. According to them " they" coordinated the terror attack in LV with OJ's release to make sure media was already in Nevada or some such nonsense.
It's a cover up, not an investigation. With all the security in casinos they can't even show a picture of paddock carrying in weapons, or even anything suspicious.
You are confusing the casino with the hotel. Reportedly there are more than 200 pictures / videos of Paddock in public places - alone. Nothing suspicious.

I think he knew this, but doing the calculations, being so careful in planning and attending to details, probably allowed him to avoid actually thinking about the lives he would be taking.
