But, what is TRUE is that the standard service rifle for the Army/Marines is the AR-15/M4. That is a fact. It WAS the M16 and was replaced by the M4. This rifle has three options Safe, Semi, and Auto. That is also a fact.

And you CAN buy an AR-15/M4 in any Academy Store (in Texas). I don't know about elsewhere. But, that is also true. And you don't have to go to a gunshoW to get one.

The military M16 is still in use - the army version no longer has auto fire, but 3 round "burst" fire (since the army rightly determined that automatic fire is just a waste with the recoil). Marine version is still full auto. M4 is simply a smaller version of M16 and they are issued in both "burst" and "auto".

Civilians AR15 versions are obviously semi-auto and cannot be converted to auto without some significant milling of the lower receiver, one would need some machining skills. It's also obviously very illegal.

Regardless of what side you are on, things will go back to "normal" in a few days. Another tragedy will occur at some point down the line, we'll "pray" again with no real change, and go in circles.
