Well... Every people makes their set or choices. We have made ours: we love gun massacres. They're part of our culture; as American as apple pie. Since we're not willing to do anything about it, we all collectively own it.
And don't kid yourself...nothing will ever change in this country. See you next massacre.
Oh no, nothing will change. When you have a school being shot up and kindergartens killed, you would think that would be the turning point and things would change. But, first amendment rights come before every killing with guns no matter what
That crap was no compromise. No registration list in my state to confiscate from and state law prohibiting local and state LE from complying with feds. Will be an interesting confiscation effort requiring fed authorities. I won't hold my breath waiting. Sh*t will have long hit the fan by that time.
That's okay. You go ahead and have your shootout with law enforcement comes knocking.
The urge to immediately "do something" after a tragedy is certainly understandable. But if it does not stop anything then it is "something" that is useless just to make people feel better. If a person with no criminal or mental history would be able to purchase a weapon in this country, or get one illegally from someone then no regulation will stop it. How they use it is the problem and how do you legislate that? This is horrible and the conversation will be difficult in the coming days and months.
That's the thing. Once you get people into a fear state, you can get them to give up their rights. That's all part of Problem - Reaction - Solution. You generally don't make good decisions in a fear/panic state....and the shadow government knows it and takes advantage of it.
some interesting stats and graphs regarding gun violence in America vs other places.
IMO we need stricter gun laws. What we have right now isn't working and the amount of gun deaths is staggering.
The number of gun deaths is irrelevant. It's a question of fairness and equality. If some people get to have guns (like the miliyary, police, and certain other government employees), then everyone must be allowed to have them. Remember, the incidents of murder in numbers reaching into the thousands and millions are always committed by governments.
The right to life is fundamental. The right to defend oneself is a corollary of the right to life. The right to possess the means of self-defense is a corollary of the right to defend oneself.
Some people abuse that right, and they must be punished. However, abolishing that right would lead to far greater evil than the occasional massacre by a deranged citizen, no matter how horrific those massacres might be.
There a societal cost that's a direct result of how prevalent guns are in this country, from suicides to children accidentally killing each other to cops being trigger happy. That fee is the recompense gun owners owe to society.
No kids. No wife. Happy life. Productive member of society. No mental health issues.
You're following that repercussions mentality, that I owe you for being a gun owner...
No dice Eddie.
Shame. I'd have been willing to go for it if belt fed and magazine fed full autos and suppressors were deregulated and no annual tax/fee.
Nobody should be allowed to have weapons that make mass killings easy. You know, common sense laws.
Worked for Australia, can work here too.
It did not work for Australia. It was not tried in Australia.
The Australian government still has weapons that make mass killings easy. And they are even easier now that the people are being disarmed.
