I guess rather than American's having tax cuts for them to spend their money as they please, the New York Magazine is suggesting that politicians spend it instead.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer...-tax-cuts.html

The article first and all suggests tuition free four-year public college which the liberals have been proposing for years.

The article proposes giving every child under 6 a $2,500 allowance and of course raising the earned income tax credit to as high as $10,800

This would mean that a parent with two kids under the age 6 would get a $16,800 bonus from the government for having children they can't afford

They also propose free universal public day care and ending homelessness with an extra 20 billion for housing and urban devolopment.

wow- so instead of allowing millionaires and billionaires a third G6 or buy more shares of AAPL, middle class families can get a break on their taxes and some help with their kids, not have to struggle to chose to save shrinking pay to put away for college for their kids or have a huge debt burden for them and their child, save the 10's of thousands a year they spend on daycare (or have one parent stay home and lose a second income as is often the other outcome), and those on the bottom end of the spectrum get a bit more cash in their pocket and can put to use into the economy and perhaps avail themselves of less government services.

But I guess you're right, we should instead allow Ivanka and Don Jr to inherit a cpl hundred million more. I love how the America First wing, who says Trump is a champion of the forgotten man, instead pushes for tax policy that would further swell the pockets of their Daddy at their expense. I mean Sure, I'd rather see Trump and other billionaires get more money back in their pockets rather than a huge relief of some of the biggest financial issue faced by the middle class.....

btw- usually grown ups cite their sources with a link or two....

Why would we want even more unqualified students going to college when they could learn a trade perfectly well?

And encourage breeding that people can't afford?

Why doesn't the New Yorker instead of paying full paychecks to its employees, they take half of everyone's income and give it to charity... the federal government's job is to not give away someone else's money...

NY Magazine: Instead of tax cuts have tuition free college, $2,500 child allowance and $10,800 earned income tax credit

Is this "NY Magazine" volunteering to pay every American this much money out of its own coffers?

And/or, have they named the spending programs they want eliminated, to pay for them?

Naw.

I didn't think they were serious.

I suspect this is the link...There Are Better Ways to Spend $1.5 Trillion Than Tax Cuts

The EIC is free money for people who don't pay taxes...so nuts on that on bs.

New York Magazine is the pure, distilled essence of blue thought in this country. It doesn't usually make any sense, but libs here in NY love it.

So do you think we shouldnt have taxpayer funded highways, schools and libraries? Everyone should just pay out of pocket and if they can afford it, they should live in misery?

Many people cant afford to work and pay tens of thousands of dollars in child care. So the woman stays home, not working.

Working stiffs like yourself will never win by pushing for tax breaks. Because anyone earning $40-$50 000 a year will just get pocket change in any tax break while taxpayer funded childcare, higher education and a national health care system dramatically improve the quality of life of working stiffs.

Does that mean the Fed is going to give each state money to fund college because public colleges are not Fed owned ?

Isn't it nice to give away someone else's money ?
