It is fair to say that the aggressive live by the dollar, sociopathic, take advantage of anyone that one can mentality of Las Vegas plays a role in it's unsually high homicide rates.

To date, Los Angeles has had 199 homicides compared to Clark County at 200 homicides. Phoenix has less than half the amount of homicides of Las Vegas also.

Las Vegas some years has the nation's highest suicide rate and it also has extremely high drug overdose death rates.

The 15 Most Suicidal Cities In America - Business Insider

The amount of violence in Las Vegas is staggering but then again with the libertarian low-tax mentality there is very little of safety-net. The city also is overwhelmed besides it's a very cheap city next to the state with the highest home prices in the country, so hundreds of thousands of people down on their luck have moved there with lots of baggage.
