Just tossing this out there. I'm new here but in the short time I'v been here I'v seen several threads pertaining to the gun control dilemma in America taken over by people with no dog in the fight whatsoever.

So, maybe someone can explain why others care so much & why we should care about their opinions?

I have lived in numerous foreign countries and the only thing that is brought up is gun violence that is found in America.

It's all part and parcel of the violence that the US is known for.

But why do they care? I couldn't care less about the law in Austria or England.

I see nothing wrong with an outsider's perspective.

If this thread turns into a "bash the poster" it will be shut down.

In all honesty, I am not concerned with how other nations view the American's policies regarding the right for Americans to own and possess firearms.

Frankly, its none of their business - as, another countries gun laws are none of our business.

People will always complain when they cant have something.
I dont let their replys bother me, they just make me work that much harder to keep them.

Because the way nations practice politics on a national level often also is the way they practice international politics.
It is a fact that people only go with what they know.

Because Europe has absolutely no problems of its own. They live in this vast utopia where birds sing a lovely tune all day long and there is no crime or poverty.

They are merely trying to educate Americans about how to be a super happy country filled with gumdrop forests.

Frank, I live in the Pacific Rim.
My coworkers wanted to know what kind of gun I owned.

The US is known for violence by guns, rightly or wrongly.
School shootings, mall shootings, work shootings, etc.
That would never happen here.

I couldn't care less what Americans gun policies are but I am still completely bemused by the attraction of hand-guns.

I understand guns for hunting. I don't understand this obsession some Americans do have with firearms though.

However it is your country so your rules. Nothing to do with me. It makes me a lot more wary every time I visit America, always wondering who is sporting a gun.

Most Europeans see guns purely as a hunting thing. We don't understand all the rampage deaths in schools and malls etc.. which seem to happen all the time. How does a 15 year old get hold of guns so easily ?

I lived in the US for 3 years and was astonished how lax the rules seemed to be and how easy it was for just about anyone to buy them.

I hate the idea of concealed weapons. If someone has a gun I feel it is my human right to be aware of the dangers so I can stay clear from those people.

If Americans are happy with the situation though there is nothing a foreigner can or should do about it.

It doesn't stop us foreigners from being completely baffled by the gun culture though.

I guess we are suspicious of why anyone would want a weapon of destruction and death in their pocket at all times. We just don't understand it as it is so alien to us.
I guess you can call it cultural differences.
