I'm sure that happens every single day to women, around the world in many countries. So good for her to bring up this issue.
Now, as a guy, I will say that I would be flattered if women cat called me on the street (or even guys for that matter).
However, I do realize that it's different for women being cat called, there's an element of nastiness to it that makes it a uniquely female problem, so no way would I think it ok even if I have no problems with it personally if it happened to me.
Everyone reacts differently to being catcalled. While some are horrified and demand an apology, others prefer to ignore it and keep walking. But one woman adopted a unique approach to the men who objectify her: She decided to take a selfie with each of them.
Good for her! I wish men realized how uncomfortable and disgusting it is to be cat called (although some men apparently would be flattered by it...go figure)
I hate being cat called. It happens not only to me, but to my daughters when we are just walking around minding our own business. It's rude. It isn't a compliment. It doesn't make us want to know who you are or give you a number. I've been been called a ****** when I ignored someone who was calling me baby. All I want to say to these men is...go F yourself.
I just ask men to put themselves in the shoes of any woman, sister, mother, daughter or friend to see how horrible it is. Sometimes even scary.
This young woman seems braver than I was in my 20s - all I wanted was to move as far away as possible from "my" catcallers.
Anyway, kudos to her for having this idea and following it through.
