I believe this mandate includes the workplace. It sounds like a good idea, but they need to remember that there are all kinds of religions, and some might include some strange beliefs and the followers of those religions can insist that the new law protects their right to "act or abstain".

Sessions issues religious liberty guidance to federal agencies | TheHill

The 25-page memo maps out 20 guiding principles reminding agencies that freedom of religion is a fundamental right and that the free exercise of religion “includes the right to act or abstain from action in accordance with one’s religious beliefs.”

I am all for real religious liberty. However, when conservatives say "religious liberty" what they really mean is institutionalized homophobia and discrimination against the LGBT community. That is all it's about.

I think the main point was to allow churches to push politics, but whatever they want it to be about, I fear there will be many all kinds of unintended consequences when muslims etc seek protection under this law. For example a restaurant chef might say he won't touch pork, because he is a muslim, and the law will prevent the restaurant from firing him.

I believe the main point is to make sure a religious organization isn't being forced into practices or hiring of people that don't coincide with their beliefs. Clearly the NAACP should be able to pass on hiring a Neo Nazi's simply because they are racists, why should the church be any different?

I don't find it acceptable that someone would refuse to bake a cake for someone for anyone, nor do I find it acceptable that they should be forced to do it.

Default AG Jeff Sessions weakens anti-discrimination protections for LGBT people with religious liberty directive

I have mixed feelings about this....

Who should it be allowable to discriminate against based on religious beliefs/preferences?

1. Caucasian
2. African American
3. Latino
4. LBGT
5. Nobody
