I think the number of people requesting this is going to be very low. Most people are probably not going to want to pay the price of a movie ticket when they're both legally deaf and blind because there's no benefit in doing that. The only reason people go to the movies now is they either have to be the first to say they saw a movie or to get the big-screen big-sound they can't get at home. Since legally blind and deaf people can't benefit from the latter, only the former would compel them to make such a request.
This may have even been one of those lawsuits filed just to force an issue.
I think you're getting upset about nothing, particularly if you prefer to watch movies at home.
Yeah but then the OP wouldn't get to blow something way out of proportion like he did and be outraged.

In defense of Claymoore, I don't think he engages in much of that. As for the rest of the posters, I'm assuming they're thinking in term of possibility versus probability.
And you have to admit, we all come here so we can express our outrage, right?

Even with 24 hours notice such as someone suggested, I would venture to guess that even finding a tactile interpreter in many small towns in rural areas would be extremely difficult, and even then the tactile interpreter needs to be available when the movie goer wants to go. The request is ludicrous. Life is unfair. There are limits to what can be accommodated.

My point by that post was that a requirement to call ahead would be reasonable. For a big city 24 hours may be the acceptable, but for a smaller city, I could see it still being reasonable to require a longer period of time, like 2-3 days, even a week.
The price of tickets will go up if theaters have to have interpreters "on call" just in case.
They wouldn't have to have them on call. They would only need to use them if a both blind and deaf patron came to the movies, which rarely happens. This is an odd request however, and I think Cinemark will win. The thing I found most shocking about the article was the fact that Cinemark earned a measly $256 million last year. The theater industry is even worse off than I thought.
A little off topic, but the doctor I work for mentioned a new subscription service called Moviepass in which you can see one 2D movie per day at most major theaters for $10/month. It is a very popular service and may revive the failing industry.
One of my favorite grocery stores has lost my business because they have a zillion handicapped parking places and if you don't have the permit, you have to park a very long way from the building. Normally, a walk like that wouldn't bother me, but the last 2 times I went there, I just had a couple of things to buy, pretty much all the handicapped parking was empty, and it just pizzed me off. A few reserved parking places is fine, but literally the first quarter of the entire parking lot was reserved (and empty).
It pizzed you off because you as a healthy person had to, gasp, walk a little longer to the store? OH NO! You know what pizzes me off? When I see healthy people with no handicapped placard on their license plate or hanging from their rearview mirror parked in handicapped spots. And people wonder why we have overweight people in this country.....because they're too lazy to walk through a parking lot to a store.
