Maybe they just wanted the minority gone from their firehouse?

only people that don't get their panties in a bunch ... he may have been testing the water. got his answer didn't he.

btw: it isn't the end of him, it was a job, he was fired, now he goes on to find more suitable position for himself and different co-workers ...

Um, why ever would he "test the waters" in such a way if that's really what his intention was? Seems a pretty stupid move to me. A new employee, still on probation, and yet he wants to test the waters? Not smart, if that's the case.

again, he goes on to find a different job, with different people. could be he wanted to see, what kind of people are they? you can not tell me every black person in america is offended at the sight of watermelon. come on now, that's just dumb.

I have left a job, because of personality conflicts ... If at anytime I feel uncomfortable around the people I have to spend a good part of my day with, I will leave and go find some place else to be ... end of story.

No one even suggested that black people are offended at the sight of watermelon. Maybe the details discussed are too nuanced for some of you.

This watermelon fireman dude sounds like an idiot or an insensitive jerk.

When was the last time you put a pink bow on a gift for your one of your buddies.

I have a gay brother and I wouldn't give him a pink bow -- lol.
Or maybe the whole thing was made up and this is all more fake news to try and cause a civil war.

Obama "there are just some jokes white people shouldn't tell". ????

black people weren't the only race stealing watermelon from farmers farms ...

just like black teenagers were not the only teenagers being watched by store managers ...

Hmm, you think 41 is old? We don't know anything about this guy. He could have just retired from the military for all we know. Should people be turned down and denied new career opportunities just because they don't fit in the typical 18-25 demographics?
