Yes, it would.

OP, I really enjoyed reading your thoughtful post. I agree with everything you've stated.

One thing with Trump was so many people kept saying he would "become Presidential" once he got closer to the office and when that didn't happen it was a transformation that would happen once he was sworn in. This was never going to happen. The only thing that has occurred is that he has gotten worse since being in office, and the longer he stays there the worse he is going to get.

I personally think the GOP changed for the worse once so much religion took over the party. If it were true religion it would be one thing, but all I've ever seen is hypocrisy in the extreme. Trump is an example of this. The same people who rail against Bill Clinton (and rightfully so because he was a serial womanizer) totally ignore the fact the Trump is this exact same type of man. This issue of "family values" only seems to apply to Democrats and Independents. I almost think Trump supporters thought that "Access Hollywood" tape with Trump talking trash was somehow cute. It's the same with these Congressmen who vote pro-life then we find out in their own lives they're telling pregnant mistresses to get an abortion.

I don't know where this will all end up with Trump. Corker is correct in what he has said about it essentially being an adult day care at the White House. Trump is mentally ill and unstable, and the only people who don't understand this are the people who voted for him and continue to support him.

And I don't understand how or why Trump remains so popular. I am pretty sure it's due to the fact that people are angry about political correctness and left-wing movements like #BLM, LGBT rights, environmentalists, secular humanists, etc. They like Trump just because he angers liberals so much. It doesn't matter how competent he is. Trump spites the people they hate and that's good enough for them.

The thing is, while I don't agree I can understand the mindset. What I don't understand is how/why it's worth destroying the country or possibly even the planet to make that point.

How many times have you read a post that said Trump is great because he makes liberals cry? I see them all the time.

Poor reason to sell your soul...

No. I did not vote for Trump. Yet because of the right's endorsement, tolerance and enablement of Trump, I doubt that I could ever vote for a republican again unless there is such a massive, complete purge and overhaul of the party that it would likely resemble something drastically different than what it is now.
The Republican party is dead to me after Trump. Doesn't mean I'd go running to the democrats but it will take me quite alot to ever consider voting for another Republican or anyone who refused to stand on principle and oppose this train wreck before it became too late.

Where do I even BEGIN? I'm tired of anxiously checking the news every day, which becomes SO easy now with 24/7 cable news and an iPhone, just to see what latest stupid thing this fool said or did and how close we are to a war or some other catastrophe because this idiot has utterly no idea what he is doing and won't listen to those who do.

I remember last weekend feeling somewhat relieved when I heard that Rex Tillerson was making some progress de-escalating things with North Korea and then waking up Sunday to see that Trump Tweeted that he is "wasting his time"!! So with a few taps on his phone, this idiot manages to destroy whatever progress our diplomats made, alienates us from the rest of the world that wants to see a diplomatic resolution or containment and effectively neuters his own Secretary of State and for that matter, the very OFFICE of the SOS for as long as Trump remains president.

I don't know what's worse. That or the notion that some people actually think he knows what the hell he is doing, like he's playing some version of "good cop - bad cop" when the reality is, he has the demonstrative mentality and temperament of a five year old(With apologies to five year olds), who wants to show everyone who's boss and who needs constant attention or he will act up to get it.

How did we GET to this point? How did so many grown adults who voted or members of the Republican party who MUST have known better decide to enable this circus show?

I really don't know what is worse, the daily embarrassments this man-child visits on our once great country and office or POTUS or the fact that there are actually still people out there who think he is doing a good job?! I am amazed when I see the presidential approval rating and there are 25 or 30% of Americans who are actually convinced that Trump is doing a good job.

What is scarier, that a unprepared, unintelligent, narcissistic reality TV buffoon is now president with all of the attendant chaos and dysfunction that would logically ensue in such a scenario or that we have such a large number of Americans who seem functionally incapable of rational thought when asked to judge his fitness for office?!

That or the cynical republicans know damn well what Trump is but think it's ok to gamble our nation's future in order to get some legislation passed. *How's THAT working out?! BTW?*

I'm tired of Trump's petty Twitter fights and thin skin. I'm tired of his constant need for attention and praise and I'm tired of turning on the news every day and finding new ways to be astonished at the capacity for human stupidity and adults at the highest levels of power acting like complete children.

His entire strategy as POTUS seems to be attempting to roll back everything Obama accomplished purely out of spite, reacting to every perceived insult with skin thinner than wet tissue paper and giving MAGA speeches to rally the base while he is systematically doing the opposite of MAGA.

I guess I feel like Bob Corker and I'm tired of pretending the Emperor has no clothes and tolerating those who do.
I sincerely hope daily that Trump is impeached, the 25th amendment is invoked or he get's bored and decides to resign and claim victory so that this nightmare is over sooner than another 3.5 years or so.
I beleive once he gets tax reform done, gets rid of estate taxes, and brings down the pass through rate. He is going to see more money to be made as a leader who tried but couldnt so he would be open to impeachment then, or he stays for another 7 years who knows.

Yeah. I agree.

Regarding the GOP: Every day I watch Republicans on tv talk about how Trump knows what he’s doing, how they stand by him, etc.

They’ve completely sold their souls. It’s sickening.

The man is insane, and he’s systematically destroying our country. How can these idiots stand by and watch this?

I’m completely disgusted.
Really? How is Trump "systematically destroying" our country? Because he isn't a leftist Democrat?

Wow ! Where do I begin? First of all, when I saw only 4 posts, I figured you to be a new guy, but then I saw you have been on here since 2015. So you are not a troll.

Secondly, I read EVERY word of your well written, intelligent, thoughtful post twice, because you made such good points and mirrored what so many of us feel. This Presidency is beyond a joke because it is a dangerous joke. He has damaged us and our respect around the world today to the point that we may never recover.

Thank you for taking the time to post , it was a pleasure to see a Republican with brains and integrity for a change.

As always, it could be worse, the morally, mentally and physically incompetent Hillary Clinton could be POTUS and moving us even further into globalism where we would lose everything that we and our ancestors have worked for.

We'll always have that.
