There are people who are income-eligible to receive Food Stamps but CHOOSE to not do so. Their obesity rate is right in line with the non-poor. That's USDA's own data. So spare me the lame sob story.

As always, you ignore the rest of the post and focus on what benefits the family is getting.
It is the poor quality of food that is making us all fat - not just the poor on food stamps. (YES, their percentage is higher...but not by much[SIZE=2].)
But go ahead, post your useless stats again - for the zillionth time.

United States has world's highest rate of child obesity at 20 percent. Globally the average is 5% for girls and 7% for boys.
I think it will just continue to increase. Entertainment in the United States is mostly based on the experience of eating.
It is amazing how eating huge of amounts of food for entertainment and driving to the mailbox is the culture in 2017.
This is the product of several things, including:
1. The government propagating outrageously wrong nutritional information.
2. The huge increase in the number of Mexicans in this country. This alone might explain half the increase in the proportion of fat children in this country. Mexico is the fattest country in the world.
I would, if that wife was attempting to steer me in a positive, healthy direction. You have a problem with that ?
Absolutely. Good intentions and expertise aren't the same thing.
When it comes to being a nutritional expert, it takes one to know one. And if you have the expertise to recognize an expert, you don't need their advice.
So, which side of the fence are you going to pick?
Are people using food stamps to eat 3 times as much food as necessary, or are they selling them?
Both. Remember the duplicate and overlapping Nutrition Service programs that even the USDA admits is a problem? Who says they're only collecting on 3 at the same time? Could be more than that.
That's because of high Black and Hispanic population percentages in Southern red states. Both groups have disproportionately high obesity rates. They have disproportionately high public assistance program rates, as well.
Solve the problem of minorities' high poverty rates, and that will change.

Not by much? There are SIGNIFICANT differences. Double digit percentile differences. Read and learn:
Take a look at the obesity rates of the poor on food stamps compared to the poor who aren't on food stamps, and compared to the rest of the population:
Income-eligible children on food stamps: 24%
Income-eligible children NOT on food stamps: 20% Non-poor children who of course don't even qualify for food stamps: 13%
Kids who get Food Stamps (and free school meals, and who knows how many additional Nutrition Service benefits have an 85% higher obesity rate than kids who don't qualify for those benefits.
Income-eligible adults on food stamps: 44% obese
Income-eligible adults NOT on food stamps: 33% obese Non-poor adults who of course don't even qualify for food stamps: 32% obese
Adults who get Food Stamps (and who knows how many additional Nutrition Service benefits have an 38% higher obesity rate than adults who don't qualify for those benefits.
Do the math, and recognize that this is a SIGNIFICANT problem.
It certainly does appear that the children of poor and low-income families who receive free school breakfast, lunch, etc., program meals, regardless of whether they get food stamps, are being overfed.
Additionally, the USDA OIG (Office of the Inspector General) has found that a full 59% of families on Food Stamps also double-dip and triple-dip, or more, free food benefits from major Federal means-tested free food programs for the exact same daily meals:
Let that sink in... A full 59% of families on Food Stamps also double-dip and triple-dip, or more, free food benefits from major Federal means-tested free food programs for the exact same daily meals.
Are we really doing the poor any favors by causing their obesity by letting them double-dip and sometimes even triple-dip or more government free food program benefits, thereby enabling their overeating and ruining their health? They are disproportionately obese, and cost us a lot more tax money to pay for their obesity-related health problems, such as heart disease and diabetes.

This doesn't explain West Virginia obesity problem. Southern states would still be at top of the obesity list if you took those demographics out. Obesity is everyone's problem in the south for various reasons. I explained the math in another thread as to why, and you never responded.
