Like always, Trump will win, bigly, with his base on this move.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, the state’s largest health insurer, is proposing a 22.9 percent rate increase on Affordable Care Act plans in 2018, in what will be the fifth year of the federal health insurance mandate.

(And Hillary spent 10s of millions in the campaign to win NC while saying she supports Obamacare. This speaks for itself.)

Nope , i know you would like to think that, but that group is much more costly than the young child age folk.

the whole point of ACA was the smooth the cost AND the risk across your life.

Trump is purposely breaking that function and the result would be the Young getting much much cheaper policies which means their "excess" will not be there for the older and sicker clients. the ONLY winners will be those who pick plans that don't cover their underlying risks and the very young and healthy...

But again the Good news is states like WA, will simply write state law blocking humpty trumpty.

the but bad news is poor red states will not, thus exposing their folks to the worst of it.

Fact : Obamacare had caps on premiums.

Fact : Those caps benefit older people.

Fact : Trump wants to remove those caps which will drive up premiums for older people

Fact : You think increasing premiums are a "victory"

So what if I have to stick a hot poker in my eye to win, at least I won....

Rex Tillerson might as well have been describing his entire base (which is not growing, btw).

That's what the left said...yes....

Current premiums in Alabama up 220%+

Trump's EO does not actually DO anything. It just directs the federal agencies to look into it. Pretty much the same as all the rest of his EOs. EOs and administrative actions that it might bring about are subject to endless injunctions and lawsuits as we have seen already. And EOs can be rescinded by the next admin meaning nothing but uncertainty in the health care field. You are going to have to change the law via congressional action to have any real and lasting impact.

cool story, but you ignore premiums have been increasing fast the last few decades and even with all the increases premiums are not higher than they would have been without ACA.

BUT (its a big but)

BUT, the coverage is vastly better and more folks have it....

in short

Rs... you pay a lot and get very little.

Ds ... you pay a lot and get a lot.

nobody has a solution where people pay a little and get a lot , that solution requires a universal system which scares the GOP as they need a riled up insecure base to get votes. Give those folks real employment rights and healthcare and the GOP would have no supporters....
