Name one war where us fighting it literally meant if we didn't fight it we would have been conquered and not allowed to vote or have our rights. The only one I can think of is our fight to become independent against Britain. No soldier alive today has literally fought for our freedom. All the other wars were us fighting on foreign soil usually imposing our belief system and political system on them (Iraq,Afghanistan,Vietnam).
I an refraining from saying what I really want to say. Trust me, you don't want to hear it.

I was thinking of this exact thing because recently there was a vet begging on the sidewalk with a sign saying something like "I fought in Iraq for your freedom."
I think you could make a case, though, that once upon a time there was a very real fear that communists would roll over the whole world. And who knows what might have happened if Hitler was allowed to conquer Europe?
Roosevelts sanctions baited the japanese to attack. Roosevelt desperately wanted a reason to enter the war.
If we would have stayed neutral the japanese would have had no reason to attack us.
Of course this isnt the version of events govt schools teach.
Fascism in Europe was probably enough of a reason on it's own merits for the U.S. to jump into the fray in WW2, but it was a tough sell to the American public I'd imagine, most of whom in those days had never even been to Europe, so what did they care what was happening on the other side of an ocean?
I still say WW2 was the last just war America has fought in but I don't deny we were probably duped into it just like usual. The really infuriating part is that WW2 probably never would have happened if the conclusion of WW1 had been handled properly.
lmao That is what you're equating with people in the Middle East who are mad because American troops are in their countries killing innocent people to protect oil interests?
The pirates did it for the money, not ideology.
In late 1801, the pasha of Tripoli declared war on the U.S.of A. Which country in the Middle East has declared war on us?
Jefferson sent ships in defense BECAUSE congress was away and wouldn't come back for a special session. When congress came back and granted a Marque and Reprisal and as well as some statutes authorizing Jefferson to take action against the pirates, he did. This was constitutional.
They actually used to teach Civics and History in our schools.
Now they just promote Anti-American Leftist Talking Points.
Schools are Political Arms of the Left, just as the Media is.
Col Jessep makes a great speech about why he ordered the Code Red. And if you can accept his premise in that speech, you can see that he was not wrong. Being prepared for war is not to be taken lightly.
Sure, There is a darkness in him they can't understand and fear ever being able to. He is a cold and vicious man willing to do anything for the mission. well, being physically and mentally capable to endure the hardships of combat is an essential quality to any combatant's way of life.
So he was not wrong to order the Code Red.
He was 100% wrong to cover up what happened to attempt to pass on the blame for *his* actions on to two young Marines. For that, he is a bigger coward than any civilian he ever looked down upon.
In real life, this will never happen. I think Col Jessep was probably a Recon Marine (based on the look of his uniform) who has seen a lot of combat. A real life Col would never have done what he has done. It is just not in their DNA.
World War II - More than 2400 Americans killed and 1200 more wounded in the initial attack on the state of Hawaii.

(I blame it on the US Department of Education)
Wrong, we goaded Japan to attack us with our actions in the phillipines. We could have remained in isolation and been in an even better position when the war ended in europe.
