The point is that Swedes, rich and poor alike, ALL pay the 25% VAT tax. Same should be true in the US, ALL should pay federal income tax. A 15%-17% flat tax should suffice.
Not to the Fed Government, and that's the point. If Fed Gov is going to provide health care for all, ALL would have to pay a flat tax rate to Fed Gov.
And, no, college is NOT "free" in Sweden. Swedish college students' average student loan debt is $19,000.

There is no disingenuousness. More than 45% of 1040 filers pay no federal income tax whatsoever, according to the IRS itself. And it's simple enough to manipulate withholding so that none is taken out of a paycheck, as well. Simply claim more dependents on one's W-4.
The Fed will just raise taxes to pay for them.

Compared to other countries we have the richest poor on earth. And with birthright citizenship why wouldn't the poor want to come to the US ?

What should worry you more is why very few middle class people in Europe don't want to immigrate to the US.
PS The answer to that is simple, they do better in their home country because of universal health care, paid vacations, free college tuition and pensions.
