Everyone, not just women, needs to learn to stick up for themselves and speak up if they are abused. A friend of mine was grabbed on the NYC subway years ago. She grabbed the guy's hand tightly and yelled, "Does this hand belong to you? Keep it to yourself or you may lose it!" Passengers applauded and the creep got off on the next stop.
I answered yes. I'm not ashamed... I'm not the one who did the abusing.
What research are you doing that makes you ask the question? Or are you asking just out of curiosity?
Why would the victim be ashamed?
I am asking the question because I am noticing a lot of discussion on FB about this. Women are stepping up and finally don't seem afraid to tell their stories.
I was thinking back in my history (back to Jr. High school) and from then on, there were several inappropriate touching incidents, date rapes, doctor abuse, etc.
I had not added it all up before.
