The American Taliban is alive and well. If these fundie wackjobs have their way the US wont be much better than Saudi Arabia a theocratic state who republicans are always praising. These people are scary glad I moved to Canada.

And a huge ALSO...you had to be trolling when you said you'd want your kids to OPT OUT OF SCIENCE and do Bible instead. Just keep perpetuating the (sometimes true?) stereotype that Christians are uneducated and think the world is only, what, 6,000 years old? :high five:

ETA: I just realized the OP is the same one that had some wishful thinking rant about "big liberal" cities getting wiped out by disease and how interesting that might be. Surprise.
Exactly. Why are parents today so lazy that they want the school to take over what is the responsibility of Church and Home?

Get up early and get your kids to Sunday School and Church and quit your whining about not having bible classes in school.

That's what I did. Sure, I missed sleeping in on Sundays but . . .ya gotta put some effort into it IF you really want it and not rely on others to do that job for you. I made an effort to introduce my child to God and religion and now . . as an adult .. . it's up to him. At least he learned about it.

Bible classes over science? No wonder Kentucky is so far behind nearly all other states.

Because it's not about their kids.

They get plenty of church brainwashing.

They've got their knickers in a knot because they're convinced that your kids aren't.

I personally think that students should have the option of bible study in lieu of science classes.

Personally, I am glad that a governor is standing up for the bible to bring a sense of cohesion and morality to our schools.

Ky. public schools allowed to add Bible literacy classes

Glad, schools have the option of bible-based social studies courses as opposed to social studies courses that indoctrinate children with Hollywood values.
I'd guess you'd be okay with Koran study too, correct? Bhagavad Gita classes? Talmud lessons?

So I guess your OK with people of other religions bringing their books to school too?

Who do you think is going to have a better understanding of the people in my area? You or me?

Democrats in the area I live can be very liberal on many topics, religion is not one of them because it has played a very big role in the area.

The Bible class over science was the opinion of the OP. This will be an elective class...

Will there be "elective" classes for other world religions?

Probably not and therein lies the problem.

Just do an elective on World Religions and everyone can be happy.

Our schools have larger problems than teaching the nuances of religion, math, science and language scores are unacceptable. That should be the focus, I believe the Kentucky school system has some rather large issues to address rather than worrying about religious education.
