A spokesman at Prime Minister Theresa May’s office at Downing Street, which oversees the invitation, tells PEOPLE that the situation remains the same: “Our position on the State Visit has not changed – an offer has been extended and President Trump has accepted. Exact dates for President Trump to visit have not yet been arranged.”

I expect there is more to come - the Prime Minister's office is refuting this claim of "downgrade".

How excellent a response! I'm ashamed I didn't think to answer that way. We rejected such a system based on English history. The Framers of our Constitution incorporated the principles from such historical documents as the "1100 Charter of Liberties," the "Magna Carta," and the "Grand Remonstrance of 1641," in creating our Constitution. It is from those documents that our Bill of Rights was created (which, by the way, did not grant us those rights, but affirmed them as being inherent).

I could be wrong, but I believe he has met the Queen before. Even so, your so-called "head of state" is little more than a figurehead today.

In a Kingdom, like theirs, the people have no power. Two of the greatest fears of our Framers were the Courts, and that the Presidency might be so corrupted as to act like a King. This we saw in Obama.

We don't swear allegiance to the government either, but we "pledge allegiance to the flag, and to the Republic for which it stands. And our public servants swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. It was the States that created our Federal Government through the Constitution. It is the Constitution that defines the powers of the three branches.

She is nothing but a figurehead for the tourists. This is like going to Disneyland and not getting an audience with Mickey Mouse.

No, every other country doesn't "hate" us. Ah, "hate" the buzz word for any agenda without a valid platform.

Praying? Aren't you one that opposes religion? Who do you all pray to? I would say the God I pray to opposes abortion, the murdering of innocent preborn human babies, so................. Yeah, you might regroup on that.

They are still swearing Hillary Clinton won! Just learn to laugh it off and pity them!

The whole thread just shows the resistance is weakening when this is the most they can find to squeal about today!

When I went to AF basic training, we had an female officer visiting, their salute was different than ours and reflected that they were a "defeated" army, hand tilted down. Who cares what those think that we have defeated?

She is nothing but a figurehead for her own people. Many are dissatisfied with the system of supporting the dead weight that the royal family is.

Referendum on abolishing monarchy must be held when Queen dies, republicans demand | The Independent

Can I make this point ?

There is a glaring difference between "respecting a country " and fearing a country "

In the case of the Trump government.....fear is the common reaction, internationally.

His bumbling and unpredictable megalomania could get us all killed.

XXXX.
