Actually they were German immigrants and German Americans with ties and allegiances to Nazi Germany.
They were called the German-American Bund. At it's height the organization had 25,000 members.

The leader eventually got arrested for embezzlement and the organization got outlawed by the USG.

If you want to learn about history then go to a history site or read a history book.

So, has current politics become so quiet that the libs have to dig up incidents from 1939? The dying resistance taking a few last gasps of air!

That is true. I can remember my father telling me about large Bund rallies in the Philadelphia area in the late 1930s. Thanks for reminding us.

I do wish that so many posters would stop making false comparisons between the nationalist German Bund followers of the 1930s and the pathetic gaggle of rag-tag "neo-Nazis" of today, who make absurd claims about representing "white, Christian America" and live fantasy lives online and in their silly costumes.

More accurately, the Left strains to find Nazi comparisons with which to tar the Right, just as the Right is always in the hunt to find Communist sympathies among those on the Left.

It is this kind of hysterical partisanship which is dividing our country into warring tribes and making meaningful dialogue more and more difficult: e.g., if you criticize Obama, you're a racist; if you support Obamacare, you're a Communist.

It's not enough to disagree these days -- we must also demonize our political opponents. This is madness.
