kelly and his wife were invited to and attended a breakfast hosted by the WH for gold star families a few months after their son's death. they sat at michelle obama's table.
So you're saying that Obama never actually reached out to the Kelly family directly and offered their condolences or thanked them for their sacrifice? Instead they were lumped in with a group at an Obama photo-op?

No, they were seated next to the First Lady at a table.
And do you know for a fact that Kelly's daughter-in-law was not contacted?
Kelly may have told Trump this, but Trump only chose to put out half the facts, knowing Kelly would not speak out.
In fact, Trump knew Kelly did not want this made public for political purposes, and Trump disgustingly chose to dishonor Kelly by not respecting his wishes.

And you're making assumptions. If Kelly's daughter-in -law was the listed contact, she would've been the one called. Or are you saying sitting at a table having breakfast with Gen, Kelly isn't reaching out directly to the family?
And if you really want to get into some photo-ops BS, I'd say throwing out rolls of paper towels to victims of a natural disaster as if they were beads at Mardi Gras set a new (low) standard for presidential behavior.

Can you show us where President Obama claimed he called the family of virtually every soldier who died in service, which is the claim Trump made? I would like to see that Obama quote if you have it.
In the meantime, Trump, who absolutely did make that claim, has been caught in yet another lie:

no i didn't. as mentioned by others, if a call or letter had gone out it would have gone to the widow, not the parents. i do consider an invitation to a WH hosted gold star family event to be reaching out and thanking them for their sacrifice.

i'm sure the gold star families in attendance appreciate your cynicism.
I've seen all kinds of faux outrage about this from the left. One thing I have NOT seen-did Obama actually contact Kelly concerning his son's death while under Obama's command? Seems as if the left does not care about facts, instead they use every opportunity to spin everything into a twisted means to attack Trump. Was Trump, once again, right and telling the truth about this issue?
As noted, the Kellys were invited to the WH after their son's death.
Further, since the son was married at the time of his death, his father was NOT his next-of-kin - his wife was.
Did 45 bother to inquire as to whether President Obama contacted his wife?

Who the hell outside those four people knows? They are not talking talking. And it is none of our business.
Where in the Constitution does it say the POTUS must contact ALL family members killed in combat? Within what time frame? And must announce it to the nation.
Trump started this chit to take our minds off how and why those 4 in Niger were killed. And why was one left behind?
Phone calls from strangers is the last thing you need when you are raw with grief.
Not sure why Trump has made a big deal of calling widows while they are on the way to pick up their husband's remains, but he probably should just go with a letter from now on.

Seriously, OMG. Is it really this hard for Trumpers to admit their Dear Leader messed up bigly?
