This is a real sobering article from Politico on the worst 5% of counties for the spread of HIV.

The list is overloaded with rural, white counties carried by Donald Trump in 2016, particularly in West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, Southeastern Ohio and assorted rural counties in the Midwest. Opioids leading to intravenous drug use to HIV. My home county is one of them. The sad thing is that the epidemic targets counties with the fewest resources.

It will be interesting to see how people who are instinctfully critical of HIV victims will be when it’s some of their own affected instead of just gays in big cities.

From opioids to HIV — a public health threat in Trump country - POLITICO

Poverty leads to despair which leads to addiction. I had heard Eastern Kentucky had high levels of addiction but that map really shows how extensive the problem is there. That's really sad.

Meh. They identified it as being associated with IV drug use. Worst case, this will clear out most of the blue voters in those counties.

Way to politicize a public health crisis.

Didn't California just pass a law that makes it no longer a felony to knowingly infect people with HIV?

Yup! They sure did!

What a kind, caring, and sympathetic person you seem to be.

Yeah, right up there with the OP.

To be honest, I do have trouble generating a lot of sympathy for those that chose to destroy their lives with illegal narcotics when there are so many innocent people suffering and dying from horrible diseases. More concerned with cancer and diabetes victims, far too many of which are young children.

Just wait until they lose their ACA health insurance. It could get much worse.

You mean the ACA insurance they can't afford, due to the premium increases generated by Obamacare?
