There is so much fat in the budget for them to trim from the budget.

70 billion dollars for the department of education for example to subsidize mainly poor districts.
63 billion for housing and community when the spending should be for physically disabled and seniors, why should families get thousands of dollars to rent fancy apartments in very expensive cities.
39 billion for energy and environment. Which is mainly tax credits for radical, liberal environmentalists
26 billion for transportation. Why can't they have tolls and state/local taxes for that.

I am hoping that the big tax cuts will go through and that maybe next year or the year after they have an excuse to defund many of those welfare handouts.

We've been propping up the Detroit School District with more money (per-student) than any of the superior suburban districts.


Pouring more money down that bottomless pit of waste and corruption is not the answer.


School vouchers for kids in underperforming school districts is the way to go.


There is no reason to force a poor kid to stay in a school that will never provide him or her with the rigorous education needed to climb the socio-economic ladder.
