I agree 100%. Iraq was not broken there was no need to try to fix it.
Americans seem think everyone in the world has to look at things from our perspective. Instead of criticizing what the Palestinians are doing how about we try to understand why.
Saddam was a very bad man, but he kept terrorists out of Iraq, he kept Iran in check, and he was no longer invading other countries. He was horrible to his own people, but so were/are a host of other dictators who the US is perfectly OK with, like Mugabe or Turkmenbashi
If the Palestinians want to put up statues honoring him, it's their right.
Saddam kept terrorists out by funding them to be in other nations and killing anyone who he slightly thought was a threat to his administration. He funded the suicide bus bombings in Israel in the late 1990's/early 2000's.
If my tax dollars were going to put up statues of Saddam, I would oppose it.
If people in another country halfway around the world are doing so, then it's not my business.
The US sends the Palestinians a blank check for around $300M per year. The memorial looks like it's made entirely of construction supplies. So it's probably partly paid for by US funds.
So much for a "peace process." This is not about 1967 boundaries or occupied territories. This is about getting rid of Israel, or at least Israel as a Jewish state.

Outside of Iran having a few thousand Jews as pawns, how many Jews are there in Arab countries?
He was a horrible person, to be sure, but is anyone really ready to say that the region is more stable now?
Sometimes the frying pan is better than the fire.
Same with Ghaddafi and the instability there, he should have been left, now the obsession with Assad..He should stay too then. Imagine the instability if he's gone.
