Actually, it's the fault of the parent(s) who dressed their kid as a watermelon slice because, along with that, they should have known that Fox would run the feature without pulling the little black kid out of the group of kids, and screaming We can't run this piece with the little black kid whose parents dressed him as a watermelon slice!
This shouldn't be a thing that angers anyone but it does for ridiculous reasons that cause more harm than good. I see things like this as desensitization. Repeated exposure to something can eventually bring about a neutral or positive reaction. Sometimes it's the only way to deal with stupid.
No kidding. People who eat watermelon should be praised, not mocked. Watermelon has a lot of vitamins and lycopene, it's a healthy and intelligent food choice.
