Many times I have heard San Francisco liberal elites say that robots and automation are going to cause rural America to fall of the face of the earth as artificial intelligence, robotics and automation will render rural America useless.

Despite what liberals think there will be call-centers, hospitals and manufacturers, trade employees needed in rural America.

I just think it is rather odd how west coast liberals claim that there is going to be a tidal wave automation that mysteriously just effects middle-America. While the big cities will be swimming in labor savings and everyone in a big city will be a coder, lawyer, app devoloper or high-paid government worker.
If you use your brain, you'll conclude that automation / AI will not discriminate by geography and will impact all vulnerable jobs. Repetitive / transactional / service jobs like call centers will be among the first, which *may* be a disproportionate impact to middle America. But traditionally white collar jobs will also eventually be impacted. That will impact cities as well. But through it all, it is likely that the makers and controllers of the AI logic will tend to be city dwellers.

The person with a real "middle America vs. coast" axe to grind appears to be YOU, as evidenced by the fact that damn near all these kinds of threads are started by you.

Who exactly are these people who are considered to be "elitists"? And does anybody ever admit to being an elitist? Why are multi millionaires like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity and Bill O'Reilly not considered elitists, in fact they talk about elitists as if they are bad people ruining the country. Donald Trump is not considered an elitist and yet he's one of the richest people in the United States. The Clinton's, the Bush's, the Romney's are considered elitists but the Trumps are not. It don't make any sense. Are elitists the opposite of "Ditto Heads", the majority of folks who are listeners of Rush Limbaugh who are unable to think for theirselves?

The end game of the liberal, progressive, statist, globalist is to continue to create, and increase the DEPENDENT CLASS. Those people dependent on government for basic necessities, i.e. welfare, section 8 housing, food stamps, etc. In that way, more, and more of the population can be controlled by the few elite whether corporate, or government. It is all about power, and wealth.

Well, it's not just manufacturing, labor type jobs.

Eventually AI will impact ALL jobs - west coast 'elite' or not.

So . . it's not just middle America. Get over that complex.

Both political parties are destroying the middle class via globalization and unrestricted illegal immigration. It's not just the Democrats.

Much of the destruction of the middle class is from technology which is not the fault of any political party.

What kind of alternative universe are you living in?
