It is so awe inspiring to look up at the stars in the night sky and think on how it is possible we exist, how the universe exists, how the laws of physics exist, etc...
Atoms exist and form cells and cells come together to form conscious beings that can ponder the very existence of the universe.
In the end, we all believe that something came from nothing....counterintuitive to everything we experience in life.
I just gotta say that you atheist, anti christian types are sort of funny to me. You fight like heck to come up with every scientific sounding arguments that don't even agree with each other and you rant and rave, call people names. Obviously feeling superior to anyone who would claim to be a "christian".
Someone commented about a " Christian" being scared of scary things. That is laughable, if you are a Christian, you believe in the existence of God and Satan, good and evil, and if you think about you will realize that Satan, the devil is the one that offers the easy path, all sugar coated, whatever you like. Go ahead do whatever you desire, if it feels good do it. That is Satan calling, he is just full of excuses and goodies.

The title to the thread is, "Scientists say the Universe shouldn't exist"...I agree.
The Universe's existence does defy logic.
That the Universe should or should not exist is a matter addressed by the question, "Why?"
"Why?" is the most important question to ask because why explains the reasoning behind what, where, when, etc.
Chronic65 feels confident that he/she had an answer to the question of, why?
You don't like Chronic65's answer to the question because it points to a designer, implied by the design.
Me, at least for the moment, I'm content to ask, "Why?" to simple questions, as a child might do, and watch as the pretentious know-it-alls twist themselves into knots trying to the avoid the simple answers.
Researchers at the European Organization for Nuclear Research have been looking for any type of variation between matter and antimatter that would have allowed matter to dominate and explain how you’re reading this right now.
basically, they haven't figured out the relationship between matter and antimatter...that doesn't mean the universe shouldn't exist. They just haven't figured out that relationship and some journalist ran with a catchy headline.
Why do the simple minded insert "God" into anything they don't understand?

here is something to think about, when the singularity, as science calls it for the moment, released its energy in a rather sudden manner, and when the elements that were packed into the singularity split apart into matter and antimatter, its possible that sometimes two antimatter particles collided with a single matter particle, and three particles annihilated each other, leaving a matter particle free. granted the opposite can also be true.
another possibility is that matter and antimatter annihilate each other, but leave behind a precipitate and can condense into hydrogen, and the gravity wells created in the early life of the universe would have created the various early stars, which then created thee various elements.
we must also consider the possibility of white holes in the universe where matter would be ejected into this particular universe.
in the end there are many theories as to how this universe was created, and we need to examine all of them, either individually or in conjunction with each other. i suspect that the answer will be a combination of theories.
and here is another theory, we now have the large hadron collider, and with it we have been smashing atoms against each other and studying the ashes to try and determine a variety of things. but one thing we should note is that the collision creates a mini black hole that dissipates in micro seconds. does it just evaporate? or does it actually create a new universe? could this be how our universe was created?

Yah. This back & forth isn't going anywhere. The religious true believers feel that they have the Truth wrapped up & nailed down. The scientific religious skeptics are looking for evidence either way (although there's no known way to test the God hypothesis, TMK.) Both sides - if there are only two - are talking past each other.
What we need here are religious believers & scientific skeptics, all in the same person - to address both sides of the question @ the same time.
Takes more faith to believe in a creator-less Universe than one that was created.
Really? Let's say there is some kind of creator how do you know it's the God of the Bible as interpreted by American evangelicals in the South? Why not Allah? Why not the Norse gods? Why not a Deist God? Why not a progressive Christian God that could have used natural processes such as the big bang and evolution to bring about our current universe?
It takes far more faith to be a fundamentalist Christian, asserting that you know exactly how it happened (and that happens to contradict everything we know about science) than to simply say "I don't know." The nice thing about being an agnostic atheist is you don't have to have an answer for everything.
