Probably because I own business and the notion that labor is the most expensive part of running a business is common sense... because a person refuses to use common sense doesn't require it to be spelled out in an article for it to be understood...

Sounds like you are a globalist that uses cheap offshore labor and businesses whenever possible to cut your costs, right? Cutting your business costs is common sense.

Two years? Isn’t that above-average longevity for a restaurant?

That is the problem with the bleeding heart mentality. They try to do good by paying a unsustainable wage to their employees but in the end the employees all lose their jobs. Better to pay the prevailing wage for that sort of job instead of trying to social engineer something else.

... but but but liberals will tell you that the reason to be in business is to provide jobs, not make a profit.

So if we deported all the illegals and wages rose as predicted after the labor market tightened, what would that mean for all these small businesses?

They would all have to raise prices to afford to pay the prevailing wage and stay in business at the same time.

But then the consumer wouldn’t have a lower cost option. He would just be paying more for pizza wherever he chose to go. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I would gladly pay a little more to an American citizen than an illegal.

Dudley couldn’t raise his prices because they would have been above market value. That is what makes these two situations different.
