Trump announcing Opioids addiction a national emergency. Like it or not Trump takes on problems others ignore.
Under Obama in 2015 there was 50,000 deaths from opioid addiction and Obama didn't make it an issue or try to produce a solution.
In 2015 there were over 50,000 overdose deaths in the United States. About 33,000 of those deaths were from opioid overdoses.
In 2016, the 21st Century Cures Act was passed, allocating $1 billion over two years in grants to states to deal with the opioid crisis. I don't think Trump is planning on increasing that assistance, though I may be wrong.
“This legislation includes some modest steps to address the opioid epidemic,” Obama said in a statement. “Given the scope of this crisis, some action is better than none. However, I am deeply disappointed that Republicans failed to provide any real resources for those seeking addiction treatment to get the care that they need.”
He didn't want to work with congress on anything but his terms and when they didn't work with him, he failed the American people.
Uh no, he admitted republicans are a failure.
And if you think Trump is going to do anything more than whatever Obama did on this issue, you REALLY live in a fantasy world. Merely stating what everybody already knew is hardly anything resembling a solution.

Maybe you are right. Obama was not a leader responsible for anything.
Oh please. Up until the 60min piece, Trump had Tom Marino as the new Drug Czar, the man who lobbied to basically continue the rampant distribution of opioids.
"Sales of prescription opioids in the U.S. nearly quadrupled from 1999 to 2014,1 but there has not been an overall change in the amount of pain Americans report. During this time period, prescription opioid overdose deaths increased similarly."
Good ole government, cause a problem and then profit off of it.
Wow, The Drs, ABC, did a show on opioids...talking to police...I had no idea really..
just a little awareness with teens.
