I don't believe that 2 year congressional terms of office has provided us with U.S. congressional representatives more responsive to their constituents, but rather they're more dependent upon campaign contributors.

I perceive increasing their terms to 3 years as a net beneficial to our nation.
Although it will not significantly improve our House of Representatives, it would to some extent decrease financial contributors' great influences within the chamber.
I prefer term limits. Two terms for all then out permanently.

There should no such thing as a career politician.

I'll have to disagree with you on this one.

We shouldn't change a good system that the voters are too dumb and lazy to utilize in exchange for a worse one.

I would change a presidential term to one six year stint. That is when they all go off track anyway. I think taking re-election out of the mix will also make them freer to make hard decisions in year 3 when they have a better handle on the job. And the final year of the first term is always a waste as it is geared entirely towards the election.

I would also cap senators and representatives to 12 consecutive year stints. They would be free to run again later but they would have to leave DC before doing so.

Disagree all you want. Career politicians only serve themselves.

You realize it requires an amendment to the Constitution, right?

The 2 year term is designed to make the HoR members more immediately answerable to their constituents. The 6 yr term for Senators is designed to put the brakes on the electorate having too much "panic" or mob mentality type influence over all of Congress. They are designed to balance each other .

Thats IMPOSSIBLE.

What do you do, forbid elected representatives from attending things like park openings, dinners etc?
