He is an establishment swamp creature, so it makes sense.

Mr. Powell, a Fed governor since 2012, is a Republican with deep roots in the party’s establishment and in the financial industry. He has steadily supported Ms. Yellen’s approach to monetary policy and financial regulation, creating an expectation that he would be unlikely to attempt large or sharp changes in the Fed’s course.

I read the whole article. He actually sounds like a good choice. Unlike most Trump appointees, he is experienced in the role he is being appointed to: finance and economics. Even though he doesn't have a formal degree in economics, degrees aren't everything, IMO. Real world experience is very important in understanding as well.

Experience is important. I agree. Yellen had experience, but Trump has been ripping her for 2 years now, but now he is going to name a person which is basically another Yellen. Apparently Powell has agreed with Yellen on pretty much everything.

The new Fed chairman is small news compared to all the scandals circulating around Team Trump. The whole country seems to be falling apart.

I think he is probably a good choice, it could be much, much worse.

it's almost like he talks out of his A$$ to get his base riled up, man of whom couldn't give you one legitimate answer as to why they would like or dislike any Fed Chair, let alone what position does. He'll rely on his propaganda wing of Brietbart and Fox news to sell as to why this was a populist move.

LOL that's the truth

to be fair to the Trumpsters, though, most Americans couldn't tell you what the Fed does.

Then why not keep the current one? Apparently the new and the old agreed on everything.

It's the not made here principal - Yellen was Obama's pick so even though Trump is nominating her ideological twin makes the pick better in his eyes.
