How can it be that people take actions like this just because someone made a claim?
I know that way too often we compare this sort of stuff to witch-hunts, but in Salem, people started saying that women were witches simply because they didn't like them or they wanted to cause trouble for them, and they knew that simply claiming they were a witch would be sufficient. If the claim was made, absolutely no evidence was required beyond that for it to have a catastrophic social effect.

Because we have turned into "Guilty until proven innocent".
I started the thread on the original story but focused more on the bizarre nature of the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and Spacey's response.
Obviously this is a private business decision so that's none of our concern.
I think had Spacey not released his tweet which has been interpreted as relating homosexuality with preying on underage folks this could have ended differently.
Netflix decided to end the series before Spacey's announcement.
House of Cards, which was closely based on the British series of the same name, always had an expiration date to it, as it was always about the rise and fall of the main character. The upcoming season is all about the fall, but like any network, Netflix may have wanted to keep its options open if the demand for one more additional season was strong.
The cast and crew knew it was ending well over 2 months ago. Netflix just kept it quiet. The charges against Spacey were coincidental, so Netflix decided to make their decision public, probably as a way of quieting the flurry down.
That's a smarter move than the one Fox News tried, with all its cover-ups. Fox apparently taught the entire industry the folly of covering their most popular people's vices up.
I think that's part of the reason why there's now so much attention being paid to all the women who are coming forth; Murdoch may have the money to blow on useless attempts to sweep things under the rug, but the other organizations may not, and they've learned that the cover-ups cause more lasting damage than quick revelations.
The sooner a company moves on, the better it is. The longer the rot is allowed to fester, the worse it becomes.
I love watching those Hollywood snobs get their due.
If he’s admitting guilt so be it, but look what a bunch of greedy parents did to Michael Jackson who I still think was innocent of what they claimed. Was he an odd duck? Yes, but I don’t think he has the ability to harm a child.

And thus ends any whining about the show having anything to do with the spacey accusations.
