Ursula Haverbeck: 88-year-old Holocaust denier given six-month prison sentence | The Independent

Quote:
An 88-year-old woman, who has a string of previous convictions related to Holocaust denial, has been handed a six-month prison sentence for denying Nazi Germany’s mass murder of six million Jews.

Ursula Haverbeck, who has been branded the “Nazi grandma” by German press, was sentenced by a Berlin court on Monday for denying the holocaust at an event in Berlin back in January 2016.
No matter what you think about her, isn't this really excessive?

German law is pretty specific about it. And a german jail is nothing like an american one.

The penalty could have been between 3 months and 5 years. Six months is toward the shorter end of that range.

Looks like Germany is still fascist. How ironic.

I would call it ridiculous. No matter how ignorant, stupid or ill conceived what someone is saying they should never be subject to any government interference. You either support freedom or speech or you don't, there is no in between.

Please. They have 1/10th the incarceration rate we do. Your argument shows a distinct lack of understanding of the term and what it means.

What part of "germany" did you miss? While pretty open minded, this is one of their few spots where they dont tolerate this idiocy as it caused the world to revile them and killed millions.

The men had access to communal kitchens, with the utensils a regular kitchen would have, where they could cook fresh food purchased with wages earned in vocational programs.

We hoped that we were getting a glimpse of what the future of the American criminal justice system could look like.
They have enough issues with plastic spoons and forks, metal ones?
