So, you're referring to small towns that have deficiencies in most foods other than their regional fare.
Sure! When we travel there's almost always one night when we have pizza: got to the hotel late, had a big day, etc. Pizza's all we have ambition for. And it's cheap. We look at the flyers in the room or ask the front desk and they aways recommend some place that couldn't make pizza if their life depended on it. That's why pizza chains are great to have in the South.
It's not like here where you're never more than 15 minutes away from a good pizza.
Pizza in the southern States is laughable. Texas included.
The South is Chainville anyway.
I never ate pizza in the South. Is it that bad? I had pizza before in Missouri, and it was a joke. And it wasn't a chain. There's no flavor in it. Where's the herbs? And why isn't it well done? Chain pizza is super bland

Brutal. Really brutal.
A proper pizza is hard to find all over the United States, even in large urban centers. But it’s nearly hopeless in the South.

He hates most of the south for political reasons and will never ever be honest. It's 100% about politics for him.
The difference is that despite the chains, a great pizza is easy to find in Cleveland.
Not so in Raleigh.
Good pizza might be hard to find in the South (and I've even had lousy pie in NYC) but try to find good barbecue in the North. Can you find good Western North Carolina style cue in Cleveland? Memphis style? Texas style? KC?
