Rep. Lamar Smith Announces Retirement

There goes another Republican. Jumping the sinking ship in droves. This guy was such a horrible pick for Science Committee.

Drug Warrior par excellence who has played a major role in blocking legalization of weed. Hopefully he will be replaced by someone who is pro-cannabis

Actually - with the retirements taking place - this is a good chance to change over ineffective legislators that operate with old system thinking and fund themselves with a ton of lobby money.

Maybe the left should do the same instead of holding to Perez and Pelosi.

Fat chance Trump would consider this.

Maybe in 2024, after a super majority of states approve recreational use AND big growers/ business creates derivitives products and lobbies for it.

If you look at the group of toothless geriatric fossils that make up today's Democrat Party, 70 years old is young.

Lamar Alexander is 69.

I commend him for moving on and not staying in Congress until he dies.

Fossils like John McCain & Nancy Pelosi need to move on too.

I would consider not doing any dancing either, the Republicans not seeking re-election outnumber the Democrats by a good number and the number keeps rising:
