Hmm, if only we had any empirical evidence or recent experience on how the economy was during a period of falling home prices? I wonder what would happen? Does anyone know of any consequences during a time like that? If only we had some reference point to compare to?

Well, we can tell that the majority of the American public have a basic understanding of what is coming down the pike.

You think science leads to false hope, health care inflation, and more government spending?

we do...1989/90 home prices fell sharply...the economy was doing pretty well

then in 1995 Clinton started the housing bubble that broke in 06/07

there was an article just yesterday, about how the rising housing prices are hurting the rent market

Actually on second thought... I am in the process of selling my house right now and will be renting for about 6 months in a new state before looking to get a new house. So - go ahead and crash the market. Good timing actually. Sorry all you other homeowners!

$1.7 trillion will be added to the debt with this massive giveaway to the wealthy. There was a time when the Republicans threatened to shut down the government because there weren't corresponding cuts to every dollar spent, but now they are perfectly fine with a $1.7 trillion addition to the debt.

Where's the Tea Party? Why aren't all they protesting this? Where's the Freedom Caucus, who vetoed just about everything put forth during the Obama Administration?

Yeah, we know. It was never about the debt or deficit spending. It was always, and only, about politics. It doesn't get any clearer than that with their silence now.

1.7 trillion deficit

For only an average of $1400 of savings a year for a low income family? And that’s the generous end

Why do we need a tax cut since taxes are relatively low. All in favor of tax simplification and creating a fair system but taxes aren't the problem with our economy.

This looks more and more like posturing for the 2018 election, they weren't able to deliver on any of their other promises like infrastructure and the ACA replacement so they need to show something.
