I guess they need the federal government more than they think. Personally, I hope the assistance is denied as Trump has already given them more than enough.
That 7 billion dollars would be better spent in Florida and Texas than in California.

These type of forests are meant to burn. They naturally burn to the ground every 150 years or so. Giving people handouts to pay for their homes they built in forests which they knew have a history of burning to the ground is just silly, much less spending billions to fight these fires.. you're just delaying the inevitable. Let nature take it's course.
If you walk around a forest and the floor is littered with toppled dead tree trunks and debris everywhere, it's a sign that forest is way overdue for a fire.
Plus, how does it cost 7 billion dollars to go around with a chopper and dump fire retardant chemicals?
Where is this money going? Don't people have homeowner's insurance? I bet a full 3.5 billion of it gets skimmed off the top into the government officials running cleanup efforts, and goes to accomplish no actual work.. but that's not ripping just democrats, that's all of government that operates this way.

In the forest, is that where faux news told you they were?
Get rid of federal disaster assistance. A farmer in Kansas shouldn't be forced to pay for fire damage in California anymore than a Californian be forced to pay for the farmers tornado damage in Kansas. And has been already seen, such disasters are best handled locally rather than bureaucratS in DC.
Ca. doesn't need the union for anything. Isn't that what they have been claiming ? They don't need to cooperate with the federal government. Why are they asking for money. They just raised taxes and they can do it again.
Send the bill to Mexico. If it weren’t for homeless cold illegal aliens starting fires to stay warm and playing with flare guns,..
