I deplore politically correctness but having a nation of highly armed lunatics roaming around massacring one another on a weekly basis is not what an advanced 21st century, first world nation needs. Other nations are surpassing us in all metrics that actually matter why we sit on butts clinching our guns like a bunch of morons.

Near-by states like Indiana and Wisconsin have weak gun laws and are in close proximity of the city of Chicago. Since we don't have border regulations from state to state it makes it very difficult to stop guns from being brought in from other states. Gun control needs to be far more sweeping and comprehensive for it to take effect.
If that's tge case tgen why aren't the surroundibg states suffering from the same fate?

They are...look at the neighboring states crime statistics. Gary Indiana for example is one of the most dangerous cities in America.

You will confuse them using common sense.

Indiana as a whole is below the national average when it comes to violent crime while Illinois exceeds it.

I live in New Hampshire and see what the gun owners in Mass. put up with,That state works on making law abiding firearm owners outlaws by making guns bought 18 years ago now illegal and unable to transfer title to another license holder ...You give em an inch and they will take a country mile.
That is EXACTLY the backlash I am talking about. When nothing happens, bit by bit, the pendulum swings. There will come a point where the required 2/3 in Congress and States will overturn the 2A.

Mass. laws are not that restrictive at all. I like their 10 round magazine limits, but they have a huge loophole for those that were manufactured before 1994. And it is an open carry (handguns) state, with permit.

LOL..you think America is free? You haven't been in too many places in the world then. Overall, the USA has more regulations and laws constraining what one can do then most.

And BTW, the USA has THE highest rates of murder in developed countries. Some freedom, huh?

So law enforcement officials have seen video of the shooting, since the church recorded its services to put on YouTube each week. Apparently the killer was methodical and shot people in the head, execution style, including children.

That video should be required viewing for anyone who thinks their second amendment freedom trumps all else.

In California state law limits the fee to $100 for the initial permit and $25 for renewals unless the person doing the interview/background check feels there is a need for a psychological evaluation and if so, that fee is limited to $150. It looks like the fee for the initial permit is the same in Minnesota https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=624.714

Nah. I piped down because I'm sick of arguing with people about this issue after every mass murder AND because this thread should be geared toward the subject at hand.

I have my own thoughts on the person who didn't do their job. I'm happy to share them on the appropriate thread.
