Government overreach? Who wants that? Looks like you need to read some more history. Orwell was never a conservative. He fought in the Spanish civil war on the side of SOCIALISTS! I know facts are the bane of the right but try a little, it ain’t that hard.
One has got to be actively a Socialist, not merely sympathetic to Socialism, or one plays into the hands of our always-active enemies.
- George Orwell
Government control is more of a concern for conservatives than socialists.
He might have been a socialist, but he wrote 1984 as a conservative.
We have a right to protect ourselves from those who are armed and of the criminal element.
I have a gun to protect myself for anyone who wants to invade my house. I also have a nice sticker placed at eye level on entry doors that reads. NEVER MIND DOG, BEWARE OF OWNER with a pic of a gun pointing out.
Anyone who looks at that just may decide not to invade my home.
The question isn't whether you have a right, the question is whether more guns increase violence.
You have the right to have sex, and having sex with lots of people increases your chance of getting a sexually transmitted disease.
Government control is more of a concern for conservatives than socialists.
He might have been a socialist, but he wrote 1984 as a conservative.

Quote:
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly against totalitarianism and for democratic Socialism as I understand it." -- George Orwell
You're the one who wants the government to have more control over the individual.
I want less guns in the hands of less people. And you’re the one that thinks Orwell is a “conservative socialist.” Now who’s really the one at odds with reality here?
In order to have socialism, you must remove aspects of personal freedom.
You said Orwell wasn't a socialist when he wrote 1984, I showed you a quote from Orwell in which he stated that every work he wrote after 1934 was for Democratic Socialism, 1984 was written after 1934
You're absolutely wrong. Gun laws will not stop a person who wants a gun from getting one.
We have dozens of laws pertaining to cocaine and spend billions trying to keep it off the streets, but anyone who wants cocaine can buy it.
We need to remind those (again) who think more gun laws will keep the bad guys from getting them that we already have laws higher than those that pertain to guns, like those that are supposed to prevent murders, they've been on the books since the beginning of history, and long before guns came about, they haven't stopped some people from committing such evil acts.
More restrictive gun laws will not stop an individual with evil intents from killing others.
