I think le roi has this entire topic covered in this succinct post.
Can we make this post a sticky?

Or, was your real purpose of this topic, to simply complain about Trump by using this terrible tragedy as excuse?

If so, you should be ashamed.
You don't have to be mentally ill to be a perpetrator of domestic violence. Domestic violence is extremely common; not all the perpetrators are mentally ill.

ALL mass murderers are mentally ill. This is why we need gun purchase background checks....real background checks. This guy lied on his gun purchase application, gets the gun. Why wasn't the application run through a system where his domestic violence was revealed?

How can anybody say that somebody who does something like this is NOT "mentally ill"?
Personally, I prefer "bat-sh*t crazy", but to each his own.
As for "domestic abuser", I grew up with one. He put my mother in the hospital several times. He also owned guns all his life, but he never killed anybody. That was back when a gun could be ordered from Sears and delivered right to your door by the Post Office!

Default Trump: White Mass Murderer is "Mentally Ill"

Well of course he was, normal people do not commit mass murder.

If walking into a church and indiscriminately opening fire on the people in there doesn't meet the criteria for a mental illness then we have a bigger problem then too many guns.

The same can be said for an isis idiot that willingly blows himself up in a crowded market, killing his fellow muslims because his god told him it would be a good way to get into heaven...

Give Trump a break. If he didn't say anything about this shooting he would be criticized. If he calls it a mental health problem he gets bashed. If he calls it terrorism he gets beat up.

What is he supposed to call the cowardly act of walking into a church and shooting unarmed people that did nothing to deserve such evil?

Yes, the standard deflection.

If he's 'one of ours' he's mentally ill to do such a thing, if he's 'one of theirs' it's not an illness, it's an evil which 'we can use to gin up the voters'.

I'd like to know when Trump and the Republicans are going to roll out a comprehensive mental health policy. If the NRA would back it, it would be law. However, that is too much like national health care, they would choke on their own vomit before any of them would back such a plan.

Not doing so means that they view mental health is a convenient excuse, a useful deflection, but nothing more.

So why was it not viewed as an act of terror?

I think terrorism is a form of mental illness. For someone to be so delusional that they would commit murder, and mass murder over an ideology is nuts.

When he doesn't nothing to address the issue, then he is as guilty. If you know something bad is going to happen and then look the other way, there is no excuse for that.

When do you expect him to come out with ways to address this?
