This creates the exact problem that you said you have with corporate taxes: people with means will make their purchases in places with lower taxes.

I can see them flying to Europe to buy a yacht to save on taxes, but not for the majority of their purchases.

We need taxes, but let's get rid of all the hidden taxes and all the crazy schemes.

I'd prefer a sales tax based solution; however, if we have an income tax, let's just do a straight percentage where everyone has a stake in the game and the more you make the more you pay. I'd assume it would be between 15% and 20%.
The trouble with that though, is you end up paying additional tax on money you've saved (and already payed income tax on). Basically it devalues all current investments and savings.

If we were starting over that would be a good system, but changing the rules 1/2 way through is unfair.

We already suffer that every QE.

Sometimes we need to sacrifice for the long game.

So you want to punish those that have scrimped and saved their whole life to reach financial independence? Just so those that didn't, don't have to pay as much tax. No thanks.

Good for Apple. The less money the state has the better.

the point is that Corp taxes get a break for taxes paid elsewhere...just like individuals do

are you saying that a corp..like exxon... should have to pay 35% to us, 30% to Germany, 32% to England and 25% to wherever...are you saying they should pay OVER 100% in taxes????.... good way to put those businesses out of business

It is odd that Americans living overseas must pay US income taxes on all earnings. But American corporations get to pay zero taxes to America and can pick which country to base overseas operations to make their taxes nearly zero.

I'm glad you recognize the government's greed.

Taxing a corporations overseas profits on top of what they may be paying overseas is only further incentive for them to leave the US altogether... If they weren't so high to begin with Apple may be bringing that revenue into the US and using it to invest in their business here, pay dividends etc.
