Didn't read the story but if that was his only son then I could see the frustration with your gene's not being passed on. That would be hard to get over as a parent but murder is overkill though IMO. Poor kid man.

It would be like a man killing his wife because he found out she was infertile and could never have kids instead of divorcing her and finding someone else. Would you find this understandable, also?

This headline is pretty questionable. The former foster mom says other family members told her this and that and so on. Hearsay. The father says it was an accidental shooting.
He rented the apartment to either deal drugs out of or to do drugs in and he had his son live there to keep an eye on things. His son was stealing either money or drugs from the father and he went over to take care of business. The kid might have been gay, maybe not. Either way, he wasn't killed because he was gay but it makes a good "this is what is happening in the era of Trump" storyline and it allows Yahoo to put up a rainbow flag to virtue signal the leftwing idiots.
Btw, it never said that this was his biological son.
