Why do you care what other people of faith think? It is not hurting you if someone feels peace at praying or having a belief in a higher power. Clearly people on here are pushing their atheist agendas, but why does it bother you that people believe in a higher power. Are you just being a pot stirrer?

Still, what Stephen King has to say about the problems we have with violence and depravity I tend to give little if any relevance. read a lot of his stuff when I was younger. Can't handle it much anymore. Last one I read was Under the Dome which as I see it is a story that advocates for an armed citizenry ready to offer resistance to oppression. Interesting. How bout The Stand. Classic struggle of good and evil, God vs Satan, in which despite any understanding as to exactly why the good guys sacrificed themselves for the Will of God so that evil could be defeated.

So Stephen King says to "stop prayin" and start legislatin'." Legislating what? Laws that would disarm us all and leave us helpless and dependent on the police? If the law had done its job the shooter in TX would never have obtained the weapons he used. There are plenty of laws already in place that would have kept him from legally getting a gun. But the ball got dropped, big time. And the people who dropped that proverbial ball are the same people the gun ban advocates say we should be trusting our entire safety and security to.

Ummm, so sorry, but no can do. Through the entire history of our nation the citizenry has had to fall back on ourselves to fight back against those bent on violence and mayhem. Whether as individuals or as a community the law and its government enforcers have been inadequate to protect the citizens against criminal violence. That hasn't changed. As a matter of fact, the need for citizens to be able to defend themselves, their loved ones and their communities against criminal violence is greater now than it ever has been. But in the places where this need is greatest, the citizens have been disarmed and violent, organized criminal enterprise basically just handed governance.

As distasteful and abhorrent as the gun banning rabbit people may find the thought, if the citizens in these communities were allowed the means and support to fight back, that would be far more effective than denying them that means and support. When the gangs, who are the drug cartels foot soldiers here, roll their SUVs through neighborhoods shooting up houses being met by return fire from dedicated and motivated law abiding citizens would be far more effective than waiting for the police to show up and take statements. Statements that the people are afraid to give for fear of retaliation that the police are powerless to protect them from.

Drop all this useless denial of the citizens right to defense, task the CMP with arming and training those citizens and let them fight back. The American way. It wouldn't take but a few cases of bangers in their spinner rimmed attack vehicles being turned to scrap metal and red goo as the solid PING of 8 round en bloc clips being ejected from M1 Garands fills the air to see what are now the absolute worst places in the country to have to live become communities the residents can take pride in.

"God helps those who help themselves." So let people help themselves. Prayer is a great thing. It helps people to come together in crisis and need. I find it odd that people are disdaining prayer, yet they would put their faith in government legislation. Which usually produces less effect than prayer and requires more taxation and funding. Prayer gives people hope and courage to face the odds. Legislation takes their resources and dashes hope to pieces as they see those resources squandered on everything but the issues they are supposedly being sapped to rectify.

In the case of dealing with criminal violence I would rather come together in prayer with my neighbors before battling that violence than waiting for legislation to come to the rescue. How's "Praise the LORD and pass the ammunition!!" sound? To me, a LOT better than the recorded voice on the 911 line saying "all circuits are busy please continue to hold and your call will be taken in the order received."

No one knows where Kelley would of been off to next and if he would of killed others.
The point is their prayers may have helped other people not to be killed next.

It’s okay...you CAN say ‘never.’ We won’t get angry. We just want the truth.
